Easee

UK based Easee is an award winning manufacturer of EV chargers that combine the latest smart features with simplicity of installation and use.

Easee EV chargers all come with a simple, lightweight design. Though not small in size, the clean lines of the charging unit make it an unobtrusive addition to any wall.

Easee chargers eschew a tethered cable in favour of a Type 2 socket, which can be locked through the app controls to keep the charging cable in place.

Easee Home Chargers

There are two models of Easee smart chargers available in Ireland designated as home charges. These are the Easee One and the less common Easee Max.

The award winning Easee One is the core product of the company’s home chargers, with a dynamic charging speed of between 1.4kW and 7.4kW, and a universal Type charging cable socket.

The Max charger model features increased charging speeds, up to 22kW in capacity for homes with a three phase power supply. However, it can also operate on single phase power with speeds of up to 7.4kW.

Easee Commercial Chargers

Easee also offers two chargers in Ireland designated for commercial use, the Easee Core and Easee Pro. Both the Core and Pro chargers are suitable for both single and three phase power supplies, with charging speeds of up to 22kW.

The Pro charger has been designed as a V2G reach charger, for when electric vehicles will be able to contribute power to grid stability, as well as draw from it. The Easee Charge Pro’s built-in, MID-certified meter also delivers precise measurements of power usage for accurate invoicing.

Easee App Controls

The Easee App provides a single interface for controlling one or multiple chargers on the go. The app contains a range of smart features for controlling how you charge, and provides information about your electric vehicle.

  • Charging Session Control: Start and stop charging sessions remotely, as well as set a schedule to charge only at the time of your choosing.

  • Smart Tariff Charging: Integrate your EV charger with your energy provider so that charging sessions are always carried out when prices are lowest.

  • Theft Protection: The app allows users to lock their charging cable in place once inserted into the socket to protect it from interference and theft.

  • Easee Key Charge Control: Set whether or not the charger should be open for anyone to use, or locked to the included Easee Key. This acts as an RFID controller to access the charger.

  • View Charging Status: See the current status of your charging session and EV battery.

Some of these functions may vary in availability depending on the specific charger you have.

Smart Charging Features

  • Load Balancing: All Easee chargers are capable of dynamically altering their power use to protect the electrical system from overloads.

  • Automatic Self-Testing: Easee chargers have a built-in RCD that automatically carries out tests on the charger in between sessions, and at least once every 24 hours if not used.

Simple Installation Process

Easee chargers have been designed for an incredibly simple installation that requires almost no work. The backplate is connected to the wall or column where the charger is to be mounted, and the electrical supply is connected to that backplate. Once this has been done, the body of the charger simply clicks into place.

Solar Charging

If you have solar panels, then any excess solar power can be used in conjunction with your Easee charger for environmentally friendly and totally free EV charging. Easee chargers have two operating modes designed to work with solar power:

  • Limited Grid Usage: The charger will use a combination of surplus solar power and grid energy to maintain a specified current at all times.

  • Surplus Only: The charger will only make use of surplus solar energy and will pause the charging session if the power available drops too low.
