TW Solar

TW Solar is a branch of the Chinese Tongwei Group which first branched into solar photovoltaics in 2006. Despite being a latecomer to the market in China, TW Solar has expanded its capacity dramatically.

The quality of their solar panels has been highlighted in Tongwei’s inclusion on Bloomberg’s Tier 1 PV manufacturer list, often used as an industry benchmark.

The company has more than 4GW worth of solar PV connected to the grid, with its annual production capacity for high end solar panels already reaching 75GW.

Tier-1 Solar Panels

TW Solar panels combine a variety of leading technologies to create high efficiency modules with a strong power output and reliability.

The TWMNH N-type Half-cell Bifacial modules combine long-lasting and high-performance n-type solar cells, with bifacial solar cell design to get the most power from reflected sunlight.

The modules use half-cut cells and multi-busbar technology to reduce power losses from multiple sources, while also making the solar panels more rugged and reliable.

The 435W TWMNH solar panel from TW Solar boast a module efficiency of 21.8%, which is boosted even further by the bifacial solar cells.

Bifacial Solar Cells

The 435W TWMNH module features bifacial solar cells fitted within a glass-glass frame to garner extra power output from light hitting the rear of the solar cells.

This can increase the total output of each module by anywhere from 5% – 25% depending on the light in the area, and how well located the panels are to receive reflected light.

This means that the Pmax of the 435W solar panel can increase to 456W – 543W, and module efficiency increases to 22.8% – 27.2%.

Half-Cut Solar Cells

TW Solar module use half-cut solar cells in the modules which help to increase the power output and lower the amount of energy lost if part of the solar panel is in the shade.

The half-cut cells suffer smaller power losses from heat and resistance, increasing the overall efficiency of the panels. The panel is also wired in two separate halves, so losses from shade will not affect the entire panel.

The TW Solar TWMNH solar panel has 96 cells in total arrayed in rows of 6×16, with the panel divided into two halves of 48 cells.

Clean All-Black Design

The Full-Black TWMNH module has a clean design with both the cells and the surrounding aluminium frame coming together with a single colour which creates an unbroken appearance to the eye.

The panels blend well together into a single surface which shouldn’t stand out when attached to a rooftop or create a jarring break in colour.

The panels have dimensions of 1762mm × 1134mm ×30mm and weigh in at a relatively lightweight 20.9kg per module.

Long Lasting and Reliable Solar Panels

TW Solar Panels are designed with anti-PID solar cells and encapsulation materials tpo reduce performance losses over time from Potential Induced Degradation (PID).

The use of micro-busbars are makes the panels more rugged by reducing the risk of microcracking. Smaller rounded wire busbars and fingers in MBB panel design sees a smaller risk of cracks in the soldering compared with larger conventional busbars.

With 1.6mm tempered glass on the front and back and a reliable anodised aluminium frame, the panels are able to endure a load of 5400Pa (front) and 2400Pa (back).

A Class A Fire certification also guarantees maximum protection against fire damage to the solar panels.

TW Solar Warranties

TW Solar offers 25 year product warranties along with a 30 year performance guarantee warranty for its solar panels.

The 25 year warranty, which is in the range of the industry standard, guarantees the solar panels against damage for the bulk of their operational lifespan.

The Linear Power Output Warranty promises that the TWMNH panel will lose less than 1% of its performance in the first year, and suffer no more than 0.4% degradation each year thereafter.

This means that after 25 years a solar panel should be at 89.4% of its original output, and at no less than 87.4% after 30 years.

Temperature Coefficient

The TW Solar TWMNH range of panels has an excellent temperature coefficient of -0.30%/℃. This means that the performance of the solar panel will be reduced by 0.3% for every degree the temperature of the solar cell rises above the standard test conditions of 25℃.

Solar panels typically have a temperature coefficient of 0.29 – 0.5%/℃, putting the TW Solar TWMNH range at the higher end.
